3 x CD COLLECTION OF PATTI SMITH BROADCAST RECORDINGS This 3 x CD boxed set presents a welcome reminder of the power of Patti Smith in concert, recorded as it is live during different eras of her incredible musical career to date. Beginning on Disc One with a classic 1976 gig, performed two months after the release of her stunning debut Horses, at San Francisco s Boarding House venue, this show reveals the Patti Smith Group in their original, and many would say finest, line-up, with Lenny Kaye, Ivan Kral, Richard Sohl and Jay Dee Daugherty backing the mighty PS. Disc Two features a show from more than 20 years later, recorded on 1st August 1986 in Hamburg, Germany. Out promoting her Gone Again album at the time, Patti performs an astounding set featuring a handful of cuts from the new record and a host of classics from past albums, as well as a few well-chosen covers, giving this recording an eclectic and varied ambience as it clearly delights an audience probably 10 times as large as those that witnessed her earliest gigs. The set concludes on Disc Three with a collection of broadcast interviews with the girl herself, during which Patti comes across as the highly intelligent, compassionate and concerned individual we all know her to be, albeit often with tongue firmly in cheek when the opportunity arises.
