Formed in 1990, Tool’s lineup includes vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey, and bassist Justin Chancellor, who joined in 1995 replacing Paul D'Amour. The band has won four Grammy Awards and released five studio albums, one EP, and a box set. Emerging with a heavy metal sound on Undertow (1993), they became leaders in the alternative metal movement with Ænima (1996). Their work combines musical experimentation, visual art, and themes of personal evolution, earning critical acclaim and global success with Lateralus (2001), 10,000 Days (2006), and Fear Inoculum (2019). Prior to 2019, the band had sold over 13 million albums in the U.S. alone.
