Formed in 1968, Pentangle were hailed as folk's first supergroup, blending jazz, underground, and traditional folk music with the exceptional talents of Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Danny Thompson, Terry Cox, and Jacqui McShee. Between 1968 and 1972, the band released six groundbreaking albums—five on the legendary Transatlantic label and a final release on Reprise. This deluxe box set, released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band's formation, compiles all six albums with expanded bonus content, including rare tracks from solo LPs by Jansch and Renbourn, out-takes, and live recordings. Their debut album, The Pentangle (1968), became a folk rock classic, reaching No. 21 in the UK. Sweet Child (1968) was an ambitious double album combining studio and live material. Basket Of Light (1969) peaked at No. 5, driven by the iconic track "Light Flight," theme to the TV series Take Three Girls. Cruel Sister (1970) showcased their reinterpretation of traditional folk songs, while Reflection (1971) marked their most adventurous work on Transatlantic. Solomon's Seal (1972) was the final album with the original lineup.
