Two disc set featuring a CD of new studio recordings by Randy Brecker and The Brecker Brothers Band, plus a burning live set from the Blue Note Club on the bonus DVD. The album is dedicated to Randy's brother Michael who died in 2007. In 2011 Randy and former members of the Brothers' studio and touring band reconvened for a week-long engagement at New York's Blue Note jazz club, which in turn led to them making new music in the studio. The band features David Sanborn, Mike Stern, Will Lee, Dave Weckl, George Whitty, Ada Rovatti, and others. The music includes killer versions of "Some Skunk Funk" and "Straphangin'," as well as a host of new Randy Brecker originals in the Brecker Brothers Band style. Jazz trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker has helped shape the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament/Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Jaco Pastorius and Frank Zappa. Review (5 stars) What's remarkable here, as so often, is Brecker's compositional genius and the energy and sheer hard work that must go into these magnificent edifices of aural architecture...a parade of outstanding musicality and invention. --Jazz Journal, (Mark Gilbert), December 2013 (4 stars) Randy Brecker's wife, Italian saxist Ada Rovatti, impressively takes over the late Mike's role, alto-sax star David Sanborn makes some interventions of typically trenchant soulfulness...Oli Rockberger's two vocal contributions are potent, and the rhythm section is fearsome. Brecker Brothers fans will love it. --The Guardian, (John Fordham), January 3, 2014 (4 stars) Alto-sax icon David Sanborn is his usual sparky self and Randy's trumpet, incisive at groove tempos and coolly muted on ballads, has never sounded better. --Evening Standard, (Jack Massarik), January 17, 2014 (4 stars) There are so many great players from the original band here - David Sanborn, Mike Stern, Dave Weckl, not to mention trumpeter Randy himself - that you soon surrender to the sheer blinding efficiency of it all. --The Observer, (Dave Gelly), January 5, 2014 'First Tune Of The Set' is a tornado-paced funker recalling the Breckers' 1970/80s heyday...Elsewhere Rovatti and Sanborn wisely avoid evoking Michael's sounds, but, like Stern, rip it up in their own way, the guitar man a riot on the dirt funk of 'The Slag' and Randy's wife sizzling on 'Adina'. --Jazzwise, (Andy Robson), February 2014

I've made a journey back to the vinyl records by buying a turntable and amplifier and decided to purchase the division bell on vinyl by pink Floyd as it's one of the best albums I've ever heard..
I was able to purchase a sealed copy of this long deleted rare edition of album Avonmore via Yachew who shipped it promptly. Their price was the best online.
