Experience a cornerstone of jazz history with this limited edition pressing of Dave Brubeck Quartet's seminal album, Time Out. This release features the complete original album plus two bonus tracks, pressed on 180g purple coloured vinyl. The iconic album cover image is by the renowned jazz photographer Bob Willoughby.

Album Significance:

Time Out achieved unexpected and immense success, surprising even the members of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. By 1959, the quartet, featuring Paul Desmond, was already highly popular. While Brubeck composed most of the album's tracks, the unforgettable melody 'Take Five' was a Paul Desmond composition, becoming the quartet's most celebrated tune. This album stands out for its ambitious concept, presenting tunes exclusively in unusual time signatures, a bold experiment that led to one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time. Praised as 'Dave Brubeck's defining masterpiece,' it is celebrated for its rhythmic innovation, being the first jazz album to consciously explore time signatures beyond the standard 4/4 or 3/4 beats. It is considered an essential addition to any jazz collection.
