Experience the powerful posthumous release, The Cry Of Love, by legendary artist Jimi Hendrix. Originally released in 1971, this album was compiled and mixed by his longtime engineer Eddie Kramer and drummer Mitch Mitchell. This Limited Edition CD reissue has been remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analogue masters and features the original album artwork, allowing fans to hear the music as it was first intended.
Key Features/BenefitsThe bulk of these tracks were recorded between December 1969 and the summer of 1970 at Electric Lady Studios in New York, intended for the ambitious double LP tentatively titled First Rays of the New Rising Sun. The album achieved significant commercial success, reaching #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the UK.
ContributorsThe rhythm section primarily features Mitch Mitchell (drums) and Billy Cox (bass). Guest musicians include Steve Winwood, Chris Wood, and Buzzy Linhart. Buddy Miles played drums on “Ezy Ryder,” and Noel Redding played bass on “My Friend” (recorded in 1968).
