Description
The Awakening is the 2004 debut album by Indiana doom metal band The Gates of Slumber, reissued on vinyl by Svart Records. It is a raw, slow-moving release for fans of traditional doom metal.
Built around heavy riffs and slow, sombre leads, the album draws influence from Pentagram and Candlemass, with battle-themed lyrics and Ozzy-like vocals. It is regarded as a cult classic among fans of traditional doom.
