Abel Ferrara directs this feverish cyberpunk neo-noir based on William Gibson's short story concerning industrial espionage. The film follows two extraction specialists, Fox (Christopher Walken) and X (Willem Dafoe), who are hired to use the call girl Sandii (Asia Argento) to tempt the genius Hiroshi away from a rival corporation. Newly restored and making its UK home video debut, New Rose Hotel utilizes mixed media formats to present a prescient view of digital communication and distance the audience from its central, intractable presence.

Misunderstood upon its initial release, Ferrara's work has been reappraised in recent years and compared to David Lynch's explorations of perception and paranoia, cementing its status as one of the finest examples of cyberpunk on film.
