Granville Bantock - Orchestral Works [CD]

This one-disc CD brings together Granville Bantock’s orchestral works, including Hebridean Symphony and English Scenes. It’s for listeners exploring British classical music and orchestral repertoire.

Bantock’s distinctive musical style combines Wagnerian romanticism with English and Scottish folk influences, alongside elements of Eastern music. Composer Jean Sibelius championed his work and became the first president of the Bantock Society, formed after Bantock’s death in 1946.

Bantock studied at Trinity College and the Royal Academy of Music, and later held the Peyton Professorship of Music at the University of Birmingham until 1934.
