Originally released in 1990 to introduce the band to the US and Japanese markets, 'Gala' compiles their earliest singles — 'Scar' (1989), 'Mad Love' (1990), and 'Sweetness and Light' (1990) — in reverse chronological order, along with two bonus tracks: a cover of ABBA’s 'Hey Hey Helen' and the extended Robin Guthrie mix of 'Scarlet'. Now back in print for the first time since 1990, this 2025 reissue features newly remastered audio by Kevin Vanbergen, deluxe edition artwork by Chris Bigg with original designs by v23 (Vaughan Oliver and Chris Bigg), and a new biography by Jenny Hval. This release follows the 2023 remasters of Lush’s studio albums 'Spooky', 'Split', and 'Lovelife'.
