Ahmad Jamal - First Impressions - Live In Paris 1971 [Deluxe CD]

This deluxe CD presents a previously unreleased Ahmad Jamal trio concert recorded live in Paris in 1971. It features Jamal on piano and electric piano with bassist Jamil Nasser and drummer Frank Gant.

Recorded for French radio at Maison de la Radio, Studio 104, the complete, unedited performance captures the trio’s interplay and extended improvisations, with Jamal shaping the music through dynamics, rhythm and space.

The programme includes expansive performances of “Bogota,” “Effendi,” “Extensions” and “Manhattan Reflections,” before closing with Jamal’s celebrated “Poinciana.” The release features photographs by Jean-Pierre Leloir and liner notes by jazz writer Eugene Holley, Jr.
