Brennan Wedl - Brennan Wedl [Vinyl]

Brennan Wedl's self-titled debut album on ANTI- offers a deeply personal exploration of spiritual awakening and self-discovery. This vinyl release captures a collection of songs that navigate the complexities of leaving behind traditional paths for a less steady, more authentic future. Wedl, a prolific artist since 2012 and co-founder of the queercore band Dazey & The Scouts, steps into her own on this record, shedding the anxiety of external expectations to embrace her true self. Collaborative Production: For this album, Wedl collaborated with acclaimed musicians Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Hurray for the Riff Raff), who co-produced and contributed instrumental performances. The album also features contributions from Colin Croom, Lindsey Jordan, and Matt McCaughan. Musical Style: Together, the artists forged a unique sound they affectionately term 'grungetry,' blending elements of punk, grunge, and Americana. The entire album was recorded over a concentrated 10-day period at Cook's studio in Durham, NC, resulting in a cohesive and raw listening experience. A Journey of Self: This album is an anthology of spiritual awakening, reflecting on the messes and triumphs encountered when forging a new path. It's a testament to the power of embracing who you are, with a sound that is both introspective and powerfully resonant.
