Description
Beauty Land is Greg Mendez’s album for listeners drawn to intimate songwriting and pop melodies. Its restrained songs pair shimmering, urgent guitars with stories about grief, love and addiction.
Mendez recorded most of the album almost entirely alone in his makeshift Philadelphia home studio, largely directly to tape. Following his self-titled breakthrough in 2023, Beauty Land brings a quiet clarity to his songwriting, balancing cynicism with faith.
Standout songs include the broken-clock march of “I Wanna Feel Pretty”, the sparse lament “Mary / Dreaming” and the bare, keyboard-led “Frog”. Harmony with Veronica near the end of “So Mean” offers a fleeting moment of reunion and redemption.
