Emma Ruth Rundle - These Killing Times

Emma Ruth Rundle's sixth studio album, "These Killing Times," is an electrifying and emotional work charged with anti-patriarchal feminist rage. This multi-disciplinary artist delivers a reactive anthology that is bristling with life and resistance. The album delves into profound questions about our intentions, our roles within communities, and our methods for countering the chokehold of capitalism.

The creation of "These Killing Times" is deeply intertwined with recent socio-political events, reflecting sleepless nights, moments of horror, and anguish. Themes of rising Christian nationalism, the grotesque nature of political discourse, and the resulting ontological discomfort are palpable. Yet, amidst the darkness, the album also explores love as a balm, a means of escape, and a desire for companionship and connection when confronted by humanity's violent aspects.

Written as Emma Ruth Rundle observed the devastating effects of climate disasters in early 2025, the album reflects on the systemic issues contributing to global catastrophes. Instead of succumbing to isolation and hopelessness, she consciously chose to create a hopeful record that acknowledges pain while offering community and resilience in response.
