The Handmaid's Tale - Sci-Fi Drama [DVD]

Adapted from the bestselling dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood and featuring a screenplay by Harold Pinter, The Handmaid's Tale presents a chilling vision of a totalitarian future. In the Republic of Gilead, a theocratic regime that has replaced the United States, women are stripped of their rights and reduced to assigned roles. Fertile women, known as Handmaids, are forced into reproductive servitude. Kate, a Handmaid portrayed with haunting intensity, is assigned to the household of Commander Fred and his wife, Serena Joy. As she endures ritualized oppression, Kate begins to resist—through quiet defiance, a forbidden connection with the Commander's driver Nick, and the hope of joining a secret underground resistance. This powerful adaptation captures the feminist urgency and political dread of Atwood's classic, delivering a harrowing story of survival and rebellion.
