Ares Games Sails of Glory: Starter Set | Wargame Strategy | 1-4 Players | 45+ Min

Sails of Glory is a board game series by Ares Games that meticulously recreates naval combat during the Age of Sails (1650-1815). Building upon the proven game system of Wings of Glory (formerly Wings of War), this starter set utilizes miniatures, cards, and board game mechanics to simulate historical sea battles, focusing initially on the Napoleonic Age.

Players engage in tactical maneuvers by secretly choosing from a special deck of maneuver cards that dictate movement based on wind conditions and sail settings. After movement, ships fire their guns at targets within range, bringing the drama of historical naval warfare to your tabletop.

The core mechanic involves players selecting maneuver cards in secret, revealing them simultaneously. Movement is executed by placing an arrow card in front of the miniature corresponding to the chosen maneuver, followed by moving the miniature along that path, adjusting for wind and advanced sail rules. Combat resolution involves firing guns from the sides of the miniature at in-range targets.

This Standard Edition provides the foundation for Napoleonic Age naval battles, with potential future expansions covering other historical periods like the Age of Discovery or the Middle Ages.
